lexoffice (Lexware Office) and Webex: what is possible
Haus iT Caller ID cannot display a name for lexoffice (Lexware Office) on an incoming call. The reason does not lie with us but with the interface of lexoffice (Lexware Office): it has no lookup by phone number.
What that means in practice
When the phone rings, it knows a single thing: the number. An integration has to find the matching contact from that within a fraction of a second. lexoffice (Lexware Office) offers no way to do so – you can list contacts there and fetch them one by one, but you cannot ask for a number.
What lexoffice (Lexware Office) does offer is retrieval: you can fetch all contacts. That is exactly how this integration worked until 30 August 2026 – once a night every phone number was written into a table of our own, and that table was then queried.
Why we no longer offer this
An answer from a nightly sync is only as current as the last run. Create a customer this morning, take their call at noon, and the number shows up unresolved – with no way to tell whether the contact is missing or merely the sync. At the moment the phone rings, an answer you cannot trust is worse than none.
There is also data protection: a sync pulls the entire customer base over to us in order to find one contact out of a thousand. A direct lookup asks for the one number that is calling right now, and keeps nothing.
That is why we discontinued the sync on 30 August 2026 and now only offer systems with a direct lookup. lexoffice (Lexware Office) has not been among them since.
What works instead
- Ask the vendor. Whether lexoffice (Lexware Office) gets a phone number lookup is the vendor's decision, not ours. A request from a paying customer carries more weight there than one from us. The moment the interface supports it, this entry is one line away from reappearing.
- Connect a second system. Many organisations run a CRM alongside lexoffice (Lexware Office) that does have a phone number lookup. That is what gets connected – not the accounting system. All systems that can do it
- The portal's own number book. For callers who appear in no system at all, the portal keeps a directory of its own. In one measurement, 20 entries raised recognition by 28.6 percentage points – it is worth having even without a CRM connection.
