Tuesday morning at a tax firm. The phone rings, a number on the display. Who is this – a client, an authority, a call that could wait?
Since 16 September 2026 the Webex tile shows the name. Not the number, the client – exactly as held in your central master data.
Why DATEV is unlike anything else in the catalogue
With the other 56 systems, the portal asks at the moment the phone rings: *who has this number?* An answer comes back in milliseconds, and nothing is copied.
With DATEV that is not possible. DATEV gives no answer about a single phone number. There is no place to direct that question to – and a connection that claimed otherwise would be made up.
So we take the other route: a small program runs on the machine that runs DATEV. It transfers name, number and remark of your contacts and institutions into the portal and keeps them current there. The asking then happens in the portal.
What the firm gets out of it
- When it rings: the client in the Webex tile, before anyone picks up
- After the call: client, start and duration in the DATEV phone journal – where people look anyway
- Out of DATEV: one click on the green handset, and Webex dials
- For every desk: own PC or terminal server, the setup knows both cases
What it takes
DATEV workstation with DATEV Telefonie Basis, the Webex tile for the people who use DATEV with Webex, and a machine running DATEV that can reach hausit-portal.de – outbound, port 443. Nothing else. No inbound connection, no fixed address, no firewall exception pointing inwards.
Setting up – twice once
- Confirm the processing agreementManagement or IT, once for the firm
- Enable the peopleOne tick per person who uses DATEV
- Install the connectorDouble-click on the PC – or once on the terminal server
- ConnectEach person once, in their own session
On individual PCs each person downloads the program and starts it by double-click – without administrator rights. For many PCs there is the silent call from the logon script.
On a terminal server an administrator runs the installation once for everyone; the connector then starts in every session. Webex stays on the PC – that is not a restriction but the way Webex is built.
What expressly does not happen
- No contacts without a processing agreement. Before that the portal refuses them – it is not that nothing happens, it is declined
- No call content. Client, start and duration go into the phone journal. Not a word about the subject
- No silent stock. A withdrawal deletes every transferred contact immediately, not at the end of the month
Where the connection stands today
In operation since 16 September 2026, in the catalogue like any other connection – no surcharge and no pilot label. What sets it apart from the others is written above, not in the small print.
Why a firm notices this
Because a call at a tax firm is rarely just a call. It is a deadline, a query about a document, an authority that wants something. Whoever knows who is calling reaches for the right file before picking up – and does not have to ask who is on the line.
This is not great technology. It is the information the firm already holds – it had simply never reached the phone.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tile know the client?
From your central master data. A small program on the machine that runs DATEV transfers name, number and remark of your contacts and institutions into the portal. Only after that can anyone be recognised when the phone rings.
Why does that need a program on the machine?
Because DATEV gives no answer about a single phone number. There is no place you could ask “who has 0521…?”. So the records are transferred once and kept current afterwards – unlike every other connection in the catalogue.
When are contacts transferred?
Only once the data processing agreement is confirmed. Before that the portal accepts nothing – not “nothing happens”, it is refused. A withdrawal deletes every transferred contact immediately.
What happens after the call?
Client, start and duration go into the DATEV phone journal. They are there where the firm looks anyway – not in a second system nobody opens.
Can I dial from inside DATEV?
Yes. A click on the green handset in DATEV makes Webex dial. That makes both directions work: calling out of DATEV, and seeing the client when the phone rings.
Is the connection listed in the DATEV marketplace?
No. It runs on the open interfaces of the DATEV workstation and is not listed there. We would rather say so here than when asked.
